New Mexico Games Bowling tournament and new league bowler

BOWLING UPDATE
From Tenpins & More

* Fifty-five bowlers played in last weekend’s Handicap Singles tournament – with a twist – at Tenpins & More.

Format was five games, but you were able to discard the two lowest scores, making for some high sets in final standings.

New league bowler, Emily Sanchez, whose season-to-date average is 98, threw 161, 117 and 156 for 776 (including a generous handicap) to win the women’s section ahead of a tie for second between Josie Herson and Monica Redman each with 744.

Andrew Carver was able to get rid of 156 and 169, while retaining 218, 214 and 257 for an 806 series to win the men’s title.

Others to cash behind him included Blaine Sparks 796, Andy Byer 777, Caleb Bettenhausen 774, a three-way tie between Trent Irwin, Bob Eberle and David Burnett on 758 and Fredrick Whitten with 747.

* It won’t quite break the entry record of 396 set in 2021 but this year’s New Mexico Games Bowling tournament will be the second best in its 23-year history with more than 360 people attempting to qualify for the Center Finals running next week Thursday October 26 through Sunday October 29.
